From Idea to Tangible Form – the beginning of real product development.
The aws program opened many doors for us. One of them led to one of the most important partners in our journey so far: Aspekt Development. We met the Aspekt team through the funding program, presented our idea of a round, double-sided pedal – and decided to continue working together.
At that point, TOURELLY was still purely function-focused: the first version was designed for MTB and Gravel – robust and simple.
But in parallel, together with Aspekt and through the aws mentoring, we began developing the idea of dual functionality – a pedal that works both on the road and off-road.
Between October 2023 and January 2024, countless intermediate stages were created: 3D-printed parts, some hand-finished, some early metal prototypes. Some survived a few tests – others broke within minutes. But every attempt brought us closer to a goal we could define clearly for the first time: a pedal that is round, intuitive, lightweight, and simple.
Together with Aspekt, we defined TOURELLY’s first USPs during this period:
- 360° entry with no required orientation
- a defined spring mechanism with a clearly perceptible click
- a functional, reduced design
- weight and material usage as efficient as possible
Because the budget was limited, we could only build the dual-function version as a 3D-printed model. The MTB/Gravel version, however, was produced as a real metal prototype – our first step toward a “real feel.”
This phase was defined by long evenings in CAD, countless cups of coffee, and the feeling that an idea was finally turning into a product.
