First Field Tests (January – April 2024)

6.1

Of dirt, testing and honest performance.

While we continued working on the dual-function concept, we began our first truly intensive field tests in January 2024. Our goal was simple: to find out whether the pedal – in its MTB/Gravel version – would work under real, harsh conditions.

We wanted the truth. No lab. No good-weather setup. Instead: rain, mud, sub-zero temperatures, dust, frost — and more dirt.

One point was especially important to us, something many riders know from everyday use: “What happens when I step into the dirt? Can I still clip in safely?”

The results were surprisingly positive. Even on wet ground or with contaminated cleats, the pedal clipped in and out reliably. This was a crucial milestone — TOURELLY performed just as well as many established systems, thanks to its round design.

In parallel, we were preparing for our first event where we would present our idea to real riders. One thing was clear: we needed visibility.

We began actively marketing on Instagram — posting regularly, sharing development photos, explaining our concept, and directly reaching out to riders who shared our philosophy: innovation through simplicity. The goal wasn’t to go viral — but to authentically show what TOURELLY stands for.

Up to this point, everything was handcrafted — in the workshop, on the computer, and in our marketing. But the community began to form. Slowly, but noticeably.
